AirMed sells short-range Hawaii holdings

(BIRMINGHAM, AL – May 3, 2010) AirMed International, the leading U.S. air ambulance company, announced today that it has sold its assets and holdings in subsidiary company AirMed Hawaii to Hawaii Life Flight (formerly Hawaii Air Ambulance). AirMed made the decision to relinquish its inter-island operation in Hawaii in order to focus on its long-range air medical programs. AirMed will position a long-range Learjet 36A in Oahu and retain a portion of its staff at the Hawaii base.

“Without question, AirMed Hawaii and the management and staff in Honolulu have been an integral part of our success,” said AirMed International CEO Jeffrey Tolbert. “As AirMed International turns our focus to our long-range aircraft and transport missions, we felt the state of Hawaii would be better served with a single company to serve its inter-island air medical needs, and this is the primary force behind this newly formed company, Hawaii Life Flight. We feel certain the economies and efficiencies of this new, single company will benefit Hawaii’s residents and medical community at large.”

AirMed Hawaii was formed as a wholly owned subsidiary company of AirMed International LLC in 2006. AirMed will hold no interest in the new company, Hawaii Life Flight.
