AirMed Receives Full CAMTS Accreditation
Birmingham-based Air Ambulance Company Achieves Renewed Accreditation
(BIRMINGHAM – August 28, 2007) AirMed International is among an elite group of emergency transport services in the U.S. to earn re-accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS). This prestigious accreditation represents the highest standards possible for medical transport services.

The CAMTS Board of Directors singled out AirMed International as “the type of program that all air ambulance companies should aspire to be” and further recognized AirMed for their 'excellence' in international transports.” AirMed has flown more than 12,000 missions to more than 150 foreign countries on six continents and is a preferred provider for the U.S. Department of Defense.

CAMTS is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality and safety of medical transport services. CAMTS accreditation is a voluntary process and focuses on the delivery of high quality patient care and safety in the transport environment. The accreditation process involves an on-site survey coupled with a broad review of all facets of the operation. To maintain accreditation, a program must be in significant compliance with the CAMTS Accreditation Standards and demonstrate a high level of overall quality in service.
Similar to the strict standards and evaluation of hospitals by the Joint Commission of Accredited Healthcare Organizations, CAMTS offers medical transport programs a means to demonstrate high performance in the areas of quality and safety. Currently there is no governing body for the air medical transport industry.
