CRUISE: Even at Sea, You Can Rely on AirMed

Cruise Ship

Betty Thompson of Vancouver, Washington was on a Regal Princess cruise when she noticed something was seriously wrong with her husband, Jack. Hunched over in severe pain, he struggled to tell Betty that he was having bad chest pains. Betty frantically jumped up from her poolside chair and began yelling for a doctor. Within minutes, the ship’s doctor was by his side. The doctor quickly determined that Jack was suffering from angina pains. Betty then informed the doctor that they were AirMed members, at which point the doctor responded, “Great to hear.  You’ll be in good hands soon.”

The doctor then proceeded to make arrangements with AirMed.  The boat docked at the next port, St. Marten and the AirMed team was there waiting. With their experience in international medical evacuations, customs were only a blip on the radar. Before Betty and Jack knew it, they were being whisked away on an AirMed jet to Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami beach.

“We were treated with a great deal of compassion and care on our trip to Mount Sinai Medical Center.  We were able to get through a very traumatic time with much less stress.”

Jack Thompson was treated at Mount Sinai and is now back home in Washington fully recovered.

“We’ll always be grateful for the professional expertise and caring attitude of all the crew."
